Meridian Products Announces New Poly Glaze Transition
By Terry Mohler, Sales & Marketing ManagerAt Meridian Products, we’re always looking for ways to improve product performance, efficiency, and sustainability. After an extended development and testing period that began in January 2024, we’re pleased to announce that our new two-component polyurethane, or Poly, finish is ready to become our standard glaze option.
Beginning Monday, June 29, 2026, all new orders and SCMs received will default to the new Poly glaze system across our seven in-house glaze colors: Black, Medium Brown, Pewter, Caramel, Pearl, Van Dyke, and White. This marks an important step forward in our finishing process and reflects our continued commitment to delivering quality products for our customers.
Why We Made the Change
The new Poly glaze offers several important benefits over our current Conversion Varnish (CV) finish. It is more durable, with improved resistance to scratching, chipping, and cracking, especially during cutting or drilling. It also offers production advantages, including faster clear-coating times, which helps streamline the finishing process.
In addition to performance improvements, the Poly glaze has a lower environmental impact. It contains approximately half the VOCs of the current CV glaze, has a longer shelf life, and removes the need for linseed oil, which improves handling safety. We’re also asking customers to note one process change: Poly glaze requires about 10 hours of air drying before application.
What Customers Need to Know
To make the transition as smooth as possible, CV glaze will remain available by request during the transition period through June 25, 2027. It will continue to be available for replacement items only through June 30, 2028, after which it will be fully discontinued except for special considerations. Orders will default to Poly unless CV is specifically requested.
Because we are working to closely match existing CV colors, customers may notice slight variations in appearance. For that reason, we recommend updating existing glazed samples to reflect the new Poly finishes.
Preparing for the Transition
This change is designed to improve both the product and the process, but we understand that transitions require planning. Our Account Coordinators are available to help customers update samples, review finishing options, and prepare for the changeover. If you have questions or would like support during the transition, our team is ready to help.
We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to offering this improved glaze solution beginning June 29, 2026.
